Parents were invited to bring a picnic lunch and blanket to school to celebrate AES Fourth Grade Write-Fest 2008 with their child on May 9. While enjoying lunch in the pavilion area the fourth grade authors entertained their parents by reading their favorite works from their writing portfolios. Parents were encouraged to stop by the classrooms and read the Author Spotlight autobiographies created by the children. Also at Write-Fest students sold Tribes Trail Mix for a $1 a bag. The trail mix was made during the students’ Language Arts classes as a community service project and "How-To" writing instructional activity. All proceeds will go to help the Alvarado Animal Shelter.
